No matter how you make money online, you’re going to have to learn to get traffic to your websites.  And if you make money online without having any websites, well, this post just isn’t for you.  But I can tell you that in the long run, you will be forced to learn search engine optimization or in short, SEO.

So, why do you need to learn SEO or get search engine traffic?

Well, the simplest reason I can think is the fact that it’s good traffic, if you know how to optimize your keywords.  But besides the traffic, have you noticed that other webmasters and bloggers don’t usually click on your PPC ads like Google Adsense?  Yeah, a majority of your clicks will probably come from search engine traffic.

Don’t believe me, well, I’ve conducted various experiments on my other blogs.  Now, don’t expect every single person to click on your ads that come from search engines.  That’s just not going to happen.  But think about it like this, they came from your site from a major search engine to try to find what they’re looking for, if they didn’t find it, well, you have PPC ads for them to continue their search easily.

Now, this is primarily for the search engine traffic and PPC ads, but this can help in affiliated links as well.  Though, I have only had minor experience with that, the conversation rate is pretty low.  But if you do get one conversation, it can definitely pay off.  But again, you need lots and LOTS of search engine traffic, especially the fact that it’s usually a very, very low click through rate to begin with and with affiliated links they usually have to sign up for something which makes it even more difficult.
