How Long Will Your MMO Blog Last?

Written by admin on September 22, 2008 – -

We all know the Make Money Online niche is already oversaturated and it continues to inflate as I type. Most people who start a MMO blog just do it because they think it’s an easy way of making money and when they find out the hard way, their blog usually goes down the drain.

I’ll be the first to admit that I started this particular blog for a mini-competition between a few friends and I let this blog die off for a little bit. But as you can see, I’m back to posting and trying to stay active with it. And if you’re curious, my competitors blogs apparently are either inactive or are no longer there at all.

So, I obviously won the competition. :D

Anyways, that leads me to my point that most MMO blogs won’t last long and people who have thoughts on starting one should take my advice - don’t start one!

I’ve seen it happen too many times and I want to say about 95% of the times, the blog either is left for dead, they take an extended break from it and eventually return for some reason or they try to sell it. Now, we all have reasons why we take breaks or need to sell it but for the most part, people who start a MMO blog usually do it for the wrong reasons.

If you’re looking to make money blogging, then you shouldn’t get into MMO because there are plenty of blogs in different niches that make more. Matter of fact, I have a blog that just discusses my interests and things I like and I make a lot more money from that blog than I do here. And this blog is older. :D

Anyways, I’m curious if you guys ever had a MMO blog before and if you still have it, you let it die out, you sold it, etc? And if you still have it but don’t do anything to it, I would even consider taking it off your hands!

Note: I think I replied to everyone’s e-mails on site flipping. Also, for those that left comments needing additional assistance, please e-mail me so I can help you out privately.

I never make a MMO blog, but I did cover that topic in my personal blog.

I run an MMO blog (which is awesome) and though there are a lot of MMO blogs (and a lot of crappy ones) if you run a good MMO blog you can get loads of subscribers.
I run one not for the money, I run it because I love the topic of MMO and I am passionate about it. So this is what I write about. I have a non MMO blog in mind which I want to launch soon but I will always be running my MMO blog.

This interesting post in the last two weeks I ve heard of 2 MMO blogs wanting to sell out and these were blogs that had good content. in a MMO blog you tend to run out of ideas, ie. the site flipping topic has been a featured post on 10 of the blogs I visited in the last 2 days..

Uhm, when I started my “online money making journey” MMO “niche” was not as popular as it is today. People were blogging about blogging…which is just as ridiculous as creating a blog about making money to make some money. Anyway, the reason why most MMO blogs never reach the $1000/month income level is not because of the saturation of the market. It’s because their visitors are bloggers, just like them. And bloggers don’t click on your affiliate link, when they can buy a product using their own affiliate links. :) Of course most MMO bloggers never realize this, they just get mad because they get nowhere by copying the same things, and writing about the same topics as other MMO bloggers.

Starting Blog - You should never give up. A part of the reason why people are successful online is due to the fact that they have struggled and failed. You can’t succeed if you haven’t been through one of the two.

Just keep working at it and I’m sure everything will fall into place.

The MMO category sure does have quite a few sites that fit into it, and so the competition there is a bit higher than it would be in the “computer motherboards” category. The competition causes more sites to be abandoned due to a lack of upward movement.
