Don’t Rely on Your Blog for Making Money Online
Written by admin on May 31, 2008 – -If you plan on making money online, well, I wouldn’t really rely on your blog in doing so. People assume blogging is easy. Yeah, it is, especially when you’re not trying to make money from it. And if you are, well, it’s just like any other business, you need a plan. But your blog should never be your primary source for income, so don’t rely on it.
When it comes to making money online, most people end up blogging about it. But if you noticed, most people have been making money online for quite sometime prior to starting their blogs. They just use their blog as a way to a) discuss the various ways they make money online to potentially help others, b) use it as another source of income (because everyone wants to know the secrets of making easy money online.
But I can guarantee you, it’s not easy, especially when you’re just starting out. And if you think it is, more than likely, you’re going to be one of those people who fails, abandons their blog and wonder why it never worked for you.
Your blog, especially in the Make Money Online niche, should not be your primary source of income, unless you’re a Problogger, but those are one in a few thousand so odds are, the chances are heavily against you.
If you need ideas, look around, read, be creative, but never settle for one source of income. I mean, if you have graphic design skills and you work hard, I bet you’re make a 5-figure income each month. And once people find out that you make that, you’ll get tons of people flowing to your blog and then you get another source of income with selling personal ads or affiliate links.
If you need some ideas, feel free to contact me, I have a bunch that I’m willing to share that has helped me!

What’s the Worst Thing About Starting a ‘Make Money Online’ Blog?
Written by admin on April 29, 2008 – -I can’t even believe I just asked that question, “What’s the worst thing about starting a ‘Make Money Online’ Blog?” And believe me, there are endless reasons why people shouldn’t start these types of blogs or shouldn’t even consider touching this niche. But if you had to choose one reason, what would it be?
Need help? I’m sure you don’t, but since I’m technically typing to myself at the moment, I’m going to supply some of my own reasons (in no particular order).
First, there are way too many “Make Money Online” blogs in the Blogosphere. Yes, I understand I’m just adding to the already heavily populated niche but my goal is to take advantage of my knowledge and reputation to build this site up and eventually sell it to someone that does not want to do the start up work. Especially the fact, that is one of the worst parts of starting a blog in general. You have to basically start from scratch.
Secondly, a large majority of people who start MMO blogs have no clue on how to make money online. Seriously. I see so many people starting one and then going to forums asking “So, how do people make money online?” Well, if you didn’t know or don’t make money online, more than likely, you shouldn’t be in the niche.
Write something you are more familar with, maybe write about kittens? Hey, that was just a suggestion!
People blog exactly about what you’re blogging about. There’s no way of being fully unique in this niche, you just have to do your best to separate yourself from the herd. And no, stating “follow me on my journey to becoming rich” is not a good MMO blog. Why would I want to follow you when I can just follow myself on this brand new blog instead?
Just think about it, when a new site or product comes out that people can make money off of, you think you’re going to be the only one sharing it to the blogosphere? Nope, I don’t think so.
You’re at a disadvantage from the get-go. Yup, you heard right. You’re at more of a disadvantage than everyone else because you already have people disliking despising your blog and won’t even give you a chance because they feel your blog is one in a million.
More than likely they’re right.
I’m not trying to put people down, just stating what most people feel. And there are far more worst things about starting a make money online blog, and if you have any to add, feel free to comment and I’ll add it to this list!

ExposedSEO’s Contest w/ Cash and Entrecard Credits
Written by admin on April 14, 2008 – -So I recently discovered this site called ExposedSeo.com and I have to say, it is quite interesting. I read 4-5 articles before I stumbled upon his “Competition time” post in which is will be giving away cash and Entrecard credits incentives for doing a few easy thing:
- You can blog about his contest or just review his blog in general
- Subscribe to his RSS Feeds via e-mail
- Drop your Entrecard a few times in his inbox (which you’ll probably do anyways)
- Or simply Stumble his post
Easy enough, huh?
Well, I entered because it seemed easy enough. Plus, his site seems pretty informative so it’s almost like a win win situation for me. Though, hopefully I’ll actually win some cash prizes!

Should I Use Entrecard on this Blog?
Written by admin on April 11, 2008 – -So far, I’m sure I have absolutely no readers, followers, visitors. A good way of getting quick traffic and also manipulating Alexa ratings (even though we all know how inaccurate it is) is to sign up for Entrecard.com and become one of those chain droppers or drop and runners.
Without putting anybody specifically out there, I know quite a few people who have made it into the top 100k in Alexa ratings within a couple months.
What’s their secret you ask?
Well, I already mentioned it but it’s using Entrecard and dropping cards like crazy. The reason why it’s easy to manipulate Alexa ratings by using Entrecard is simply the fact that Alexa ratings are based on people who have the Alexa toolbar installed. The more Alexa toolbar installed visitors you get, the better your Alexa rating gets. Fortunately for a lot of Entrecard users, I want to say 90% of them have the Alexa toolbar installed.
There you go, problem solved.
If you know me from my other blog, I was a huge fan of Entrecard when it first came out because it’s a great way of getting introduced to various blogs you probably would have never knew about. The bad part is the fact that people abuse the system and you (the blog owner in which they drop their cards onto your widget) end up with terrible stats because of those "fake visitors."
If you have used Entrecard before or are still using it, I hope you had the opportunity to actually examine your visitor statistics from Entrecard referrals. Notice something there? Yup, your bounce rate is so high it’s not healthy for your site, or you. Wait, you saw your average time on site stats? Entrecard referrals spend less than 10 seconds on your site?
Well, at least you got a unique visitor counted towards you Alexa rating!
So, should I put Entrecard on this site? Well, more than likely I will. But I don’t plan on becoming a hypocrite (even though everyone is one) and become a chain dropper or a drop and runner to participate in those terrible stats that equal "fake visitors."

Starting a Whole New Site… Sucks!
Written by admin on April 9, 2008 – -If you have already have an established site and you decide to start a new site, doesn’t it suck starting at the bottom all over again? I swear, it’s almost like running a marathon. You see the finish line after 26+ miles of sweat and tears then someone tells you that you were never an official entry to the marathon. Well, damn. Now I have to start all over after all that hard work.
I guess the marathon was a bad example, in actuality, I decided to create a brand new blog to see if I can replicate stats like my previous blog(s) and possibly sell this site. It’s an experiment and who knows, maybe I’ll make some extra cash on the way.
But starting from scratch really does suck, I can’t stress that enough. You start all over at square one, the only thing that’s working in your favor is the fact that you already know what to do. The bad part: You actually have to go do all the hard work all over again.
Maybe it’s not as tough for some people but seriously, you know it is. Of course, some people can take the easy route and just pay people to do most of the work for them - pay for writers, pay to promote, pay to get your site designed, etc. Though, I’m not going that route.
What I will be doing is (and this list will get pretty long):
- Write all new posts in addition to new posts in my other blogs
- Promote this blog twice as much as my other blogs (even though I have taken on other projects so that’s going to be pretty hard)
- Monetize this blog when the time is right
- Customize this blog’s design, template, etc all by myself
- Promote, promote, promote this blog! I know I already mentioned it but if no one knows about this site, then they will not know about the hidden secrets of the MMO world!
- Establish a readership. This is probably one of the hardest things to do unless of course your content is stand-out excellent. I’m not sure if mine is that, but I definitely think it’s good enough.
Okay, sorry to bore you guys with that list. Though, in addition to creating this new blog as one of the many projects I decided to take on, I’m going to start working with affiliated marketing. And if you know anything about that, it takes a lot of hard work, time and effort. But if you do it, you will make tons and tons of money.
And yes, I will be updating my affiliated marketing experiences either on here or my other blog, DatMoney.com .
So, did I mention that starting a whole new site sucks?
