Make Money by Being a Power Social Media User

power-user

I know this isn’t preached by any means but there are a lot of power users of social media and bookmarking sites that make money simply by voting. And yes, you can make a pretty decent amount if you’re able to build your reputation on getting people lots of traffic from that particular social media site.

For instance, say you are a Digg user and you have tons of followers and quite a few of your submitted Diggs make it to the frontpage, well, if you can do that at ease, you can make a pretty hefty amount of money.

The same technique can be used for any major social media or bookmarking site, even sites as simple as SU.

For the record, this is against every single social sites TOS so you have to be careful doing this. Matter of fact, I wouldn’t strongly encourage doing this in the long term but if you’re in need of a few hundred dollars quick, this is an easy way. I mean, if you’re already a power user, why not make a quick buck or two hundred?

And if any of you guys are power users, I may consider hiring you myself! Actually, if you are let me know, if the price is right then I just might use you for the long-term.

StumbleUpon Removes 200 Friends Capacity

I’m sure most, if not all, of you guys have heard of StumbleUpon. If you haven’t, it’s essentially a social media site for people to “stumble upon” websites. The more votes you get, the more traffic you’ll get. Originally, they had a 200 friend’s list capacity but apparently they removed it. Time for the spammers to come out!

SU has a bunch of spammers and spam sites on there and the more friends you have, the more chances you’ll get a vote your way. And a majority of people with thousands of followers and friends have a lot of SU power and authority.

Let’s compare this to Digg real quick. For instance, if you have thousands of followers then a simple shout to your friends could get you that many votes for a story of their choice. Now, it looks like StumbleUpon is headed in that direction as well.

The rumor about StumbleUpon is the fact that it brings in massive amounts of traffic but not quality traffic. When I say “not quality traffic” I mean most visitors stumble upon your site for a one-time occasion. SU visitors don’t subscribe, they don’t return, they don’t stay on your site very long and they don’t click around to check out other pages.

Now, it also depends on the niche of the site. For instance, I can guarantee you SU visitors wouldn’t bother staying on this site for long. But that’s because everyone hates MMO blogs anyways.

On the other hand, I have an entertainment website and someone managed to give me a thumbs up vote and then a domino affect took place. One vote led to another, then 50+ people voted and that equaled 15,000+ visitors (and counting).

I checked my stats as well and with my entertainment website, people actually stayed for a few minutes, browsed around the site, but still, no drastic affect (if any) in my RSS Feeds subscribers.

Anyways, I will not be focusing on getting SU traffic to this blog but rather SEO. And I’m sure that will help my weekly ad spot winners with click-throughs!

Good luck with the spam on StumbleUpon!
